Come listen to faculty, staff, alumni and students read passages from banned books

The Ithaca College Library and Handwerker Gallery will hold their first Banned Books Week Read Out on Thursday, September 26th,  2013 from 12:10 to 3pm in the Gannett Center’s Handwerker Gallery.

Banned Books Week is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment.   Books are most frequently banned or challenged if an institution or individual deems their content  to be offensive.

Ithaca College faculty, staff, alumni and students will be reading aloud for 5-10 minutes per reader from one of hundreds of books banned or challenged each year.  The diverse array of readings include selections from Dr. Seuss, Toni Morrison, J. K. Rowling, Thomas Paine and Boccaccio.
