Use caution on ICNL during hunting seasons!
Students, staff, and faculty are urged to use caution on Ithaca College Natural Lands (ICNL) during the upcoming fall hunting seasons (Oct 1 - Dec 17). Particular caution is required during "Regular" (gun) season for deer (Nov 16 - Dec 8). For more information see: http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/65231.html.
Hunting and weapons are prohibited on the Ithaca College campus, including on ICNL. However, hunting is legal and ongoing on private and Cornell-owned properties adjacent to ICNL. The boundaries of these lands are marked, but users can easily become disoriented and find themselves at risk.
The parcel known as South Hill Natural Area West, the "B-Plots," or the "Regenerative Use Area" is officially closed from Oct 1 - Dec 17, with permission granted on a case-by-case basis only for persons with a need to access this reserve.
Please direct permission requests as well as any questions or concerns to ICNL Faculty Manager, Jake Brenner, at jbrenner@ithaca.edu or 274-3967.
Please report any observations of hunting activity directly to IC's Office of Public Safety.
