In May, Nathan Hess, piano faculty in the School of Music, performed a solo recital at York College of Pennsylvania, followed by a solo recital and masterclass at the High School for the Creative and Performing Arts in Pittsburgh, PA, and a masterclass for pre-college students for the Buffalo Music Forum for Piano Teachers in Buffalo, NY.
Hess returned to the faculty at Rocky Ridge Music Center near Estes Park, CO, to teach in the Junior Session held in early August. While there he taught piano, coached chamber music, and performed solo and chamber music works in the Music in the Mountains faculty concert series. Also in August he was a featured soloist in a benefit concert at Winterstown United Methodist Church in Felton, PA, celebrating 185 years of organized religion in the town and 50 years of worship in the present building.
In September he presented a solo recital and masterclass at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH.
