The Sustainability Café on Monday, October 28th will feature Marty Gold discussing “Feeding Community Development.” The Café will be held in Center for Natural Sciences Room 112 at 4:00PM, in conjunction with the Environmental Seminar. The Fall 2013 Sustainability Café/Environmental Seminar series is focused on the concept of “Citizens + Community = Healthy Environment.”
Marty Gold, Director of Employment & Vocational Supports for Challenge Workforce Solutions, works with members of our local community to prepare and support them in integrated work settings so they can enjoy enhanced self-esteem and quality of life, earn equitable wages and other employment-related benefits, and more fully participate in the community. Two of the programs in which Challenge consumers may work are Finger Lakes Fresh, which grows salad greens and fresh herbs hydroponically, and the new Food Hub, which will prepare and package fresh produce and farm products, making locally grown foods available year-round.
“Teachable edibles” – local, organic and/or seasonal snacks – for the Fall 2013 Sustainability Café series are being sponsored by Ithaca College Dining Services whose motto is “Sustainability – Healthy – Fresh.” Please bring your reusable mug and fill up at the nearest drinking fountain or provide your own beverage of choice.
This event is free and open to the public.
