New Play Premieres by Assistant Professor Dr. Saviana Stanescu Condeescu, Dept. of Theatre Arts

The Ithaca College Department of Theatre Arts will present an original play “Back to Ithaca: A Contemporary Odyssey.” This production is directed by Saviana Condeescu. 

 

Tickets for “Back to Ithaca” are free, but reservations are highly recommended. To reserve tickets for “Back to Ithaca” e-mail ictams1@gmail.com and indicate a first and second choice of performance date and time. All tickets are distributed on a first come first serve basis, and must be picked up at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start of the performance. Performance dates/times are October 25th at 8PM, October 26th at 2PM and 8PM, and October 27th at 2PM and 6PM. There will be a talk-back following the Saturday matinee performance. All performances will be held in Studio 2 in Dillingham Center. There will be a wait list for each performance, but tickets are not guaranteed.

 “Back To Ithaca: A Contemporary Odyssey” is a devised-theatre project conceived and directed by Theatre Arts assistant professor Dr. Saviana Condeescu and is based on interviews with Ithaca veterans. “Back to Ithaca” was developed with the IC Theatre Arts students Sam Adrian, Jazzmin Bonner, Kate Cough, Serrana Gay, Jonathon Hamel, Douglas Hansen, Yanna Lantz, Quilla Otto-Jacobs, Sarah Schostack, Sara Stevens, and Anthony Toto.

 “The goal is to create a very theatrical piece, a polyphonic dramatic/visual “poem” that pays tribute to the service of veterans while raising questions relevant to the global community today.” – Saviana Condeescu

 The cast of “Back to Ithaca” includes Tim Driscoll ’17, Trevor Eichorn ’17, Sean Grandillo ’15, Emily Loewus ’16, Maya Musial ’17, Josh Rivera ’16, Jose Useche ’17, and Melanie Vasquez ’15.

 A nationally recognized professional theatre-training program, the Department of Theatre Arts attracts students from across the United States. Throughout the production season, undergraduate students present all aspects of theater in a professional model.
