Surely you've noticed the signs sprouting up around campus, heard about the wishing tree on the quad, or witnessed increased activity through the windows of the Handwerker Gallery. Come see the culmination of a participatory exhibition for which IC students and faculty from 32 classes built works from scratch following directions from artists, opening this week!

do it began in Paris in 1993 as a conversation between Obrist and the artists Christian Boltanski and Bertrand Lavier. Obrist was concerned with how exhibition formats could be rendered more flexible and open-ended. This discussion led to the question of whether a show could take “scores,” or written instructions by artists, as a point of departure, each of which could be interpreted anew every time they were enacted. For the Ithaca College version of the exhibition, students and faculty will come together to build an exhibition from scratch over the course of two weeks, following directions from world-renowned artists like Yoko Ono, Sol Lewitt, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, and David Lynch.
do it is a traveling exhibition conceived and curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist, and organized by Independent Curators International (ICI), New York. All Handwerker Gallery events are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.; Thursday, 10.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m.; and weekends, noon to 5.00 p.m.. The gallery is closed to the public on Tuesdays unless otherwise specified for an event but can accommodate group or class visits by appointment.
