David Turkon (anthropology) co-organized and participated in a roundtable, and completed term as chair or research group, at annual meeting of the American Anthropological Association.

Turkon participated as a presenter in the roundtable "HIV Infection and AIDS Risk: Past, Current and Future Engagements" at the AAA annual meetings  in Chicago. David was a co-organizer of the roundtable along with Doug Goldsmith of CUNY. The focus of the roundtable was to examine past and current trends in HIV and AIDS research, and to speculate where anthropologists could make the greatest contributions in the present and future. In addition, David completed a six year term as Chair of the AIDS and Anthropology Research Group (AARG), passing the torch on to Charlotte Noble of the University of South Florida at the annual business meeting for AARG, which is conducted at the AAA meetings.
