Residence Halls Closed During Spring Break

This is a friendly reminder to students living on campus that all Residence Halls, except for Terrace 03, Boothroyd Hall, the Circle Apartments, and the Garden Apartments, will be closed for Spring Break beginning at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Saturday, March 8, 2014. Closed Residence Halls will not reopen until 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Sunday, March 16, 2014, and residents will not be authorized to return early for any reason.

Residents of Terrace 03, Boothroyd Hall, the Garden Apartments, and the Circle Apartments may remain on campus in their room assignment during the break, but must submit a Break Occupancy Request form on our web site at https://www.ithaca.edu/reslife/guide/opening_closings_breaks/break_occupancy/. Please complete and submit this form no later than 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, 2014. Because of the Spring Holiday, late requests will not be processed until Tuesday, March 11th.

If you live in a Residence Hall that will be closed during the break and need to remain on campus for all or part of the recess, you will need a resident of Terrace 03, Boothroyd Hall, the Garden Apartments, or the Circle Apartments to host you in their space. Please contact your intended host directly in order for them to make arrangements for the break period. Your host will need to complete and submit the Break Occupancy form noted above in order to officially host you.

Please note that:

the room’s capacity cannot be exceeded.
the gender of the students staying in the room cannot be mixed.
Your host cannot submit a Break Occupancy Request for any vacant space in their room or apartment.
Your host must surrender their room key to you for the period you are hosted in their assignment.

Residential Life will authorize card access to the host Residence Hall for hosted students. If you have questions regarding Break Occupancy, please E-mail breakhousing@ithaca.edu.
