Jeffery Meyer, Director of Orchestras, with a full schedule in the US and overseas in February and March

During early February, Meyer conducted the Colorado All-State Orchestra, performing Rimsky-Korsakov Scheherazade and a world premiere commissioned and written for the All-State event by the young emerging composer David Hertzberg, who is presently a student at the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia. It was the first time in the organization’s 50-year history that a new work was commissioned specifically for an All-State event.  The idea was spearheaded by Meyer, who remains a tireless and enthusiastic advocate for new music.

March will begin with an appearance with the Columbia-Portland Symphony conducting works of Dvorak, Beethoven and Rimsky-Korsakov.  Meyer is presently a candidate for the Music Director position with this excellent regional orchestra.

In mid-March, Meyer will travel to Russia to perform and record with his St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic in St. Petersburg, Russia.  The orchestra will be completing an album of music by the American composer Timothy Dunne.
