IC Theatre will present the contemporary musical, “Gone Missing,” originally created by The Civilians. Performances of this production will take place in the Clark Theatre at 8 p.m. on March 25, 27, 28, 29, and April 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. A 2 p.m. matinee will take place on March 29 and 30 and April 5.

“Gone Missing” was written by Steven Cosson in 2003 from interviews by members* of the New York City-based investigative theatre company, the Civilians. “Gone Missing’s” music and lyrics are composed by Michael Friedman. Each song features a different New Yorker singing of his or her experience of loss, whether the object was a special ring, a favorite scarf or a black Gucci pump. The songs are interwoven with the radio interview of an expert who explains the psychological and physiological impact loss can have on the individual.
The New York Times called “Gone Missing” “a cunningly constructed and charmingly performed show built on real-life interviews with people who have lost something.” Since 2001, The Civilians have led the field of “investigative theater,” blurring the line between the street and the stage and seeking stories relevant to contemporary audiences.
Director Wendy Dann and music director Joel Gelpe lead Ithaca College Theatre’s production. Melanie Hershmann ’15 is assistant director. The design of “Gone Missing” was created by Riw Rakkulchon ‘15 (scenic), E-Hui Woo ‘15 (lighting), Ashlynne Abraham ‘15 (costumes), and Ryan Mutton ’14 (sound). Bree Harchuck ‘15 is the stage manager and Christine LemMon ‘14 is the technical director.
The ensemble cast of “Gone Missing" features Kathryn Allison ’14, Megan Beard ’14, Nicholas Carroll ’14, Nathaniel Fishburn ’15, Sean Grandillo ’15, Stephen Humes ’14, Elise Myette ’14, Josh Rivera ’16, Alanna Smith ’14, and Lily Waldron ’17.
