Please join us in Handwerker Gallery on Wednesday, April 2 at 6:00 p.m. for Sean Fader’s artist talk.

Fader works at the nexus of photography, video, performance, and lived practice. His work combines digital and traditional photographic techniques, often investigating themes of self identification and the effects of the digital age on human culture.

Three portraits from Fader’s project, I Want to Put You On, are included in STRANGE BEDFELLOWS, the current exhibition in the Handwerker Gallery. In this series, through a collaborative photographic process and the use of digital editing techniques, Fader and his models merge their physical forms and investigate issues of identity. In this way, Fader’s work fits within STRANGE BEDFELLOWS and its questioning of the relationship between queerness and collaboration.

Fader received his BFA from the New School, his MA from Maryland Institute College of Art, and his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His work has been written about in The Huffington Post, Slate, Next Magazine, Queerty, and Flavorwire. In 2012 Fader was named one of the winners of the Magenta Foundation’s Flash Forward Award for Emerging Photographers.
