A documentary by Leah Galant ’15, Caroline Padroza ’14, Rachel Woolf ’15 was recently screened at the Visions Film Festival and Conference in Wilmington, NC and the National Film Festival for Talented Youth in Seattle.

Their film, Beyond the Wall, explores the obstacles that former prisoners face as they reinvent themselves and reintegrate into society. Through the personal story of Raymond Roe, this film challenges the negative public perception of formerly incarcerated people.

Beyond the Wall was one of 28 projects and presentations selected from an international call for the Visions Film Festival and Conference. “Visions is an all-undergraduate, peer-reviewed film festival and conference organized, programmed, and hosted by undergraduate film students at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.”

At the National Film Festival for Talented Youth (NFFTY), the film screened in the "Dramatic Documentary" category. NFFTY is the world’s largest youth film festival, and showcases films by directors who are 22 years and under.
