I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dean Linda Petrosino as interim provost and vice president for educational affairs, effective June 1, 2014. Dr. Petrosino will serve in this capacity until July 1, 2015, or until the appointment of a permanent provost through a national search process, whichever comes sooner.
An alumna of Ithaca College, Dr. Petrosino has been dean of the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance since 2012. Prior to that, she served for a decade as dean of the College of Health and Human Services at Bowling Green State University.
As dean of the School of HSHP, she has overseen the significant renovation and expansion of classroom and laboratory facilities in Hill Center, as well as the upcoming relocation of the Rochester-based portion of the physical therapy program to the South Hill campus. She has also helped the college forge an agreement with Shanghai University of Sport in China, which could lead to an exchange of faculty and students, sharing of scholarly materials and publications, and offering of short-term programs.
Observing Dr. Petrosino’s leadership of HSHP over the last two years, I have been struck by her ability both to lead and to manage through complex operations like unifying the PT program in Ithaca. Dr. Petrosino’s skills are a perfect match for the interim provost position as we continue to implement the many initiatives associated with our educational vision IC 20/20 as well as those associated with our drive to become a more effective and efficient organization.
Dr. John Sigg will serve as interim dean of the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance while Dr. Petrosino serves as provost.
I want to extend my gratitude to Dr. Sigg as well as to Dr. Petrosino for their service to Ithaca College during the crucial time in our history.
