As you may have seen in President Rochon’s Intercom announcement, The Good Lord Bird, by James McBride, acclaimed author and musician, is our 2014-2015 selection for the First Year Reading Initiative. We are now in the planning stages of what is shaping up to be another exciting year of activities.
The first set of activities includes small group student discussions, which will take place on the morning of August 26th during the annual Fall Welcome for first-year students. There will be an opening presentation by Derek Adams, Assistant Professor in the Department of English, after which students will break off with discussion moderators. We are now looking for staff, faculty, administrators, and alumni volunteers who are interested in facilitating these discussions with our new students.

As we have done for the past several years we will have optional summer afternoon conversations about the book in late July - early August. This year's dates are July 24th and August 12th.
