An impressive contingency of School of Music faculty, students, and alumni are representing Ithaca College at the International Performing Arts Institute (IPAI) this month.

After being admitted to the program through nationally-held auditions, IPAI students spend three weeks in Bavaria, Germany--from July 6 - 27--where they study the country's language, perform in staged opera and musical theater scenes, present several song recitals, and participate in master classes for leading American and European artists active in the professional music world.

The core of the program involves rigorous training with IPAI’s renowned residential artist-faculty, including regular lessons, coachings, dancing, and acting classes. Among these artist-faculty are IC Performance Studies faculty members Charis Dimaras and Dawn Pierce, as well as recent School of Music alum Samuel Martin '14.

Located in Kiefersfelden at the foot of the Bavarian Alps, IPAI is stationed between several major European cities, including Munich and Vienna. Students are able to spend time exploring the surrounding German and Austrian cultures and attend performances by international artists.
