The Office of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs (OSEMA) will be sending students on two volunteer trips during the 2014 Fall Break. One adviser is needed for trip that will take place at the Syracuse Rescue Mission.
The RM campus has an emergency shelter, day center and serves three meals a day at their food services center. On any given night, they have over 250 men sleeping under their roof. Each day, volunteers at the Rescue Mission serve over 725 meals to men, women and children who are food insecure. Trip advisers will assist by accompanying students on their volunteer excursion, helping with oversight during the trip, managing the group's funds while on the trip, and assisting with driving responsibilities.
There is no cost incurred by trip advisers for any aspect of the trip (lodging, food transportation, programmatic fees are all covered), and all pre-trip planning is arranged by OSEMA.
Faculty who are interested in exploring the opportunity to assist with this service immersion trip should contact Assistant Director of Community Service, Don Austin, at their earliest convenience at 4-3222 or via email at austin@ithaca.edu.
