Jeane Copenhaver-Johnson (Education) and recent IC graduates Robert Hohn (2014) and Rebecca Lewis (2014) presented, "Stories from an Early Adopter State: Teacher Candidates Speak about edTPA Implementation" at the Summer 2014 meeting of the Association of Teacher Educators in Niagara Falls, New York. The three reported on the early, consequential implementation of the edTPA performance assessment as a requirement for teacher certification in New York State and how this early implementation affected the undergraduate student teaching experiences of some candidates at Ithaca College. The presentation reviewed Ithaca College's approach to supporting teacher candidates during the first year of the assessment but primarily focused on the experiences of teacher candidates who actually participated in the first year of implementation. Lewis is a graduate student at Central Connecticut State University, and Hohn teaches Mathematics at Moravia High School.
