Rebecca Lesses Receives Research Fellowship at Käte Hamburger Kolleg at the Ruhr-University, in Bochum, Germany

Congratulations to Rebecca Lesses who has received a research fellowship at the Käte Hamburger Kolleg at the Ruhr-University, in Bochum, Germany for the academic year 2014-2015.

“Dynamics in the History of Religions between Asia and Europe” is one of the Käte Hamburger Collegia for research in the humanities established by the ministry of education and research of Germany and hosted by the Ruhr-University Bochum. Her research project is entitled “Angels’ Tongues and Witches’ Curses: Jewish Women and Ritual Power in Late Antiquity.” In this project, she is investigating the image and role of Jewish women in early Jewish mystical circles and in the ritual practices commonly called sorcery or magic.
