Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) Clinicians present at Conference

Three of CAPS clinicians presented at the 32nd Annual Counseling Centers of New York (CCNY) Conference this summer in Plattsburgh, NY.

Lourdes Brache-Tabar, Ph.D., LMHC, presented “Braving the Calm After the Storm: Using Ritual for Bereavement in College Counseling.” This session reviewed and demonstrated the integration of expressive arts and secular rituals in a college counseling setting.

Paul Mikowski, Psy.D., presented “How to Change Anything: Using Principles of Motivational Interviewing and Stages of Change for Single-Session Individual and Group Therapy.” This program presented IC’s waitlist group that uses principles of Motivational Interviewing and stages of change for single-session group therapy.

Laura Syvertson, LMSW, presented “The Fear of Not Being Enough—Cultivating Shame Resiliency in a Group Setting.” Her presentation explored the enriching and challenging aspects of shame resiliency work in a group setting.
