INFORMATION SESSION:
Tues., Sept. 23

Smiddy Hall 325
· Stay in ecotourism lodges in Alajuela, La Amistad, Monteverde, and Marino Ballena
· Learn model sustainable ecotourism practices that protect natural resources and biodiversity, use organic methods, and support local communities and economies
· Hike through La Amistad International Park to observe tropical wildlife and regeneration of primary and secondary tropical rainforests
· Learn about indigeneous people of Costa Rica at Spheres Park, a World Heritage Site
· Talk with local people about conservation and sustainability practices
· Hike in the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve and tour the cloud forest canopy
· Volunteer with the ASANA turtle conservation project
· All activities co-led by certified Costa Rican guides trained in tropical biology
Estimated cost of study abroad: $1,900 + airfare (based on 10 students enrolled—includes lodging, meals, guides, vans, park admissions, travel insurance)
