All students, staff and faculty are invited to attend one of two hour-long town hall sessions scheduled for Tuesday, October 7, to provide input on the campus master plan. The sessions will be held in the Emerson Suites, from 12:10 to 1:10 p.m. and from 2:35 to 3:35 p.m.
The College is undertaking an in-depth campus master planning effort with the goal of aligning real estate and facilities to support the College’s mission and vision over the next decade and beyond, as well as guide capital investments in buildings, infrastructure, landscape and sustainability.
Our South Hill campus must continue to evolve to support changing academic and student life needs over time. The master plan will define what elements of the campus should be preserved, what new elements should be created and what elements need to be improved or replaced. It will help ensure that developments are harmonious, environmentally sustainable and enhance the quality of life for the campus community.
The master planning team comprises a committee of faculty, staff and students, with guidance provided by Perkins Eastman, one of the largest architecture and planning firms in the U.S. The team also includes Mahan Rykiel landscape architects and educational programmers Paulien & Associates.
The team has been collecting information and background on the College’s academic programs and environmental conditions since last spring, and is now looking for the College community’s input to help create a vision for the future.
By sharing what’s important to you and telling us your thoughts about the campus, you can help direct the work of the planning team, setting priorities and contributing concepts. The town halls will include an exercise that will assist you in having a meaningful influence on the planning process.
All of us who work and study at Ithaca College take great pride in our campus, and I look forward to working with you as we proceed with this important endeavor.
