Several people from Information Technology Services participated in and presented at the recent EDUCAUSE national conference in Orlando.
Five individuals from the office of Information Technology Services joined over 7,000 other participants from around the world at the recent EDUCAUSE national conference held in Orlando. In addition to attending numerous sessions about the evolving role of IT in higher education, networking with colleagues, and learning about the latest innovations in technologies and services, a number of our staff presented and contributed to the conference.
Keith “Mac” McIntosh, AVP and CIO for Information Technology Services, participated as a panelist in three sessions (including one virtual session): “Why CIO Is the Best Job on Campus!”, “Building Institutional Partnerships: Reaching Across the Quad”, and “The New NEW Leadership Challenge (Virtual Conference)”. Mac also chaired a meeting of the Center for Higher Education CIO Studies (CHECS) Advisory Board during the conference.
Dave Weil, Director, Enterprise Application Services, served on the Program Committee for the conference as chair of the Leadership and Management domain. In addition, Dave participated as an inaugural member of the new Senior Leadership Roundtable Council, a program where council members serve as mentors to others in middle management roles. Dave also was a panelist in the session “Aligning IT with the Institutional Mission: Finding the Right Balance (Run, Grow, Transform)”.
Kris Monroe, Information Security Officer, participated in the Higher Education Information Security Council (HEISC) leadership team meeting, where Kris is chair of Security Awareness & Training Working Group. Throughout the conference Kris also worked closely with EDUCAUSE staff on promoting the activities of HEISC and other EDUCAUSE activities around security and privacy in general.
Terry Ruger, Assistant Director for Technology and Instructional Support Services, and Bill Liddick, Associate Director for Enterprise Application Development, rounded out the attendees from Ithaca College. They both participated in numerous sessions and discussions with colleagues and vendors on topics ranging from smart classroom design to business intelligence.
