IC Greens Vote to Change Their NameToday, the IC Greens unanimously voted to change their name to "IC Progressives". This major decision was made after careful deliberation and discussion, but, in the end, all members of the group believe that the organization should be open and inclusive to more than just Green Party members and supporters, and that the organization required a name that reflects the fact that more types of progressives are welcome. The organization hopes that individuals will feel more welcome within a group that they can more readily identify with, and that the name change will also distinguish the group as a political group that focuses on a variety of issues rather than one solely focused on the environment, as "Greens" may suggest. The group is pleased with the change, and looks forward to connecting with more individuals at Ithaca College and in the greater Ithaca community.
The IC Progressives meet at 5:00pm on Monday evenings in Friends 301. More information about the name change will be distributed in the next few weeks.
