Submitted on behalf of Linda Petrosino, Interim Provost
Please join me on Thursday, November 6 for the third Faculty Colloquium of the academic year.
Dr. Gordon Rowland, Professor in the Department of Strategic Communication and current faculty member in residence at our Center for Faculty Excellence, will be presenting “Meeting Complex Challenges through Integrated Inquiry.”
Dr. Rowland teaches a variety of courses in the core, and the learning and performance areas of the undergraduate and graduate programs in Communication Management and Design, and these courses often emphasize systemic design as a means to make positive intentional change in the workplace and beyond. He also co-directs the IICC Project, which offers four one-credit mini-courses that enhance integrated learning.
Dr. Rowland’s research interests include the nature of powerful learning experiences, social systemic design, design education, and interdisciplinary inquiry. Two of his books are available online: Guiding Our Evolution, and Lessons for Leading Change, and he recently edited a special issue of Educational Technology on the topic Innovation Over the Edge.
The IC Faculty Colloquium, launched in 2012, is a monthly event designed to provide a forum for faculty to share with one another their scholarly and creative work. This is a chance for people across department and school lines to learn more about the exciting pursuits of their colleagues and to engage with one another as members of a common learning community.
The Colloquium will take place from 5:00p.m.-6:30p.m.in the Clark Lounge of the Campus Center. We will enjoy wine, appetizers, an outstanding presentation, and excellent conversation. The first half-hour will be a social time during which we will hear a french horn quartet from the studio of Dr. Alexander Shuhan, School of Music with additional members, Joshua Jenkins, Paul Shim, and Jacob Factor.
I look forward to seeing you there!
Please see the Events Calendar for additional details.
