"The Valkyries" is a work of historical fiction set in Vancouver in 1921. An earlier version of the story was accepted for a reading at the 2012 Canadian Creative Writers and Writing Programs Conference in Toronto and received an honorable mention for the Glimmer Train Short Story Award for New Writers in November 2012.
