I am pleased to announce that a longtime procurement professional with an extensive background in supply chain management and experience in strategic sourcing has been named Director of Procurement at Ithaca College. Dean Casterline, who has served since 2005 as a Senior Subcontract Manager for Lockheed Martin and previously as a senior supply chain management professional for IBM Corporation, will join Ithaca College on December 1.
Casterline has served in a number of capacities at Lockheed Martin and IBM, where he has been an integral part of their supply chain management organizations. Casterline holds a Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management from Pennsylvania State University.
Casterline’s responsibilities will include working closely with me in an effort to put in place the proper sourcing strategies that will provide the campus community with the best overall value for the various commodities that are purchased on regular basis. He will also be involved in the implementation of an eMarketplace solution that will streamline the College’s current procurement methods, which includes our entire procure-to-pay processes.
Additionally, Casterline will be responsible for re-building a central procurement organization. He will directly supervise the Manager of Strategic Sourcing (position to be filled), Procurement Specialist, Manager of Accounts Payable and Travel Services, and Manager of Warehouse. Each of these areas are being brought together under the College’s new Procurement organization in an effort to take full advantage of the synergies that each department has within the entire procure-to-pay process.
I am very excited about the direction that the College’s strategic sourcing initiative is taking us, and the opportunities ahead. I hope the campus community begins to see the positive impact that this initiative will be providing Ithaca College.
