"Eighty percent of life is showing up." ~ Woody Allen
The Writing Department will offer the 1-credit course "Writer's Practice," (WRTG 26100) online during the upcoming Winter Session, January 5-16. The course will serve students of varying levels of writing expertise & experience. In particular, enrolled students may work on:
a) an idea they've considered but never pursued for a novel, poetry collection, story collection, work of creative nonfiction, literary journalism, etc.
b) a project they've already started and want to continue.
c) a series of directed exercises to strengthen specific creative writing skills.
Enrolled students must commit to 3.5 hours of writing per day, distributed however they wish. By the end of each day, students will be accountable for sharing on the course website approximately 5 new pages of creative work.
Meaning that by the end of the 11-day session, students will have about 50+ pages of new, revisable material.
The professor will provide guidance, reassurance, and feedback. Enrolled students also will give each other feedback.
Tuition information is available on the Office of Extended Studies website, https://www.ithaca.edu/winter/
