This past Friday, Nov. 14, School of Music Dean Karl Paulnack met with students at Indiana University to discuss themes of self-discovery and awareness as they pertain to individual career paths.

Part of the institution's student-led career development endeavor Project Jumpstart, the luncheon—co-presented by renowned concertmaster and educator Jorja Fleezanis—and the evening workshop allowed attending students to explore personal career goals in a way that synchronized with who they truly are.

“From the moment you were born–long before you were taught how to think or what to believe–you had gut instincts written into you,” his presentation summary states. “…in short, all of the instincts that make you feel most fully alive, most joyful, most “you” came as original equipment. Not only were these drivers present in you at birth–they can often be expressed in just five to seven words.”

Partnered with Indiana University’s Johnson Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation at the Kelley School of Business, Project Jumpstart offers high-impact programming for Jacobs School students, including career development and entrepreneurship workshops, networking events, student competitions, and residencies by prominent arts entrepreneurs.
