SLPA faculty and students present at the American Speech-Language-Hearing
Association (ASHA) Convention in Orlando

Faculty, graduate students, and alumni from the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology presented at the ASHA Convention November 20-22. With over 12,000 attendees, the Annual Convention is the prime professional development event for speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and speech, language, and hearing scientists.
The theme of the 2014 convention was Science. Learning. Practice. Generations of Discovery.
Ithaca College SLPA presentations included:
- “Bridging Transition Plans Through Social Communication Support Groups,” a poster session presented by Jana Waller, Clinical Faculty Member and graduate student Meredith Gennaro and co-authored by Clinical Faculty Members, Marie Sanford and Tina Caswell.
- "Global and Local Coherence in Parkinson's Disease," a Technical Research Session presented by graduate student Sarah Mucci and Dr. Yvonne Rogalski.
- “INSYNC: Inter-professional Practices for Achieving the Common Core,” a poster session presented by Jana Waller and Cassandra Natali, M.S.-CF and co-authored by Marie Sanford.
- “Self Rating Oral Proficiency in Non-Native Speakers: Facilitating Generalization Strategies,” a poster session presented by graduate student Jessica Burell and co-authored by Marie Sanford, Lea Cifranick, M.S.-CF, and Chelsea Hammond, M.S.-CF.
- “Teaching Evidence-Based Practice and Information Literacy in Speech-Language Pathology: A Needs Assessment,” a Technical Research Session presented by Jana Waller and co-authored by Laura Cobus-Kuo, Health Sciences Librarian.
- "The Early Bird Catches the Worm: Knowledge of Proverbs Among College Students," a poster session presented by Dr. Skott Freedman and graduate students, Arianna Jarosinski and Taylor Willey.
- "The Impact of Subjective and Objective Hearing Loss on Cognition and Memory in Older Adults," a poster session presented by Dr. Amy Rominger and Dr. Yvonne Rogalski.
