A talking circle to discuss diversity in theatre and its implications beyond the stage will be held on Tuesday, December 9th, in studio five in Dillingham Center.
This student led talking circle, which will focus on true diversity in theatre and it's impact on society beyond the stage, is open to the entire Ithaca College community. The discussion will pose questions along the lines of:
What can we do as artists in a time of social unrest? Why does race matter in the stories that we tell? How present is inequality in regards to diverse representations of race in theatre? How present are inequalities in our theater department? Does a greater representation and inclusion of different racial backgrounds need to exist?
How can we as theatre artists become more aware of these questions and work to create a more inclusive space in regards to the art that we create? We invite people who are interested in theatre and other art forms to come and share their ideas about the stories that they wish to see.
