As announced previously in Intercom, ACE, the Ithaca College portal that provides access to Parnassus, Argus, Homer, IC Workflow and Advance, was no longer accessible through some Web browsers due to a change in a security protocol.
Early in December ITS implemented a change that would allow all common Web browsers to continue to safely access the ACE page and services.
With regard to Google Chrome, Chrome has never been recommended for accessing ACE systems and services, but many people use Chrome successfully for this purpose. At this time Chrome should continue to work, but users should be aware that Google will reportedly cease support for Java in late 2015. HomerAdmin, Parnassus "core apps" and some other ACE systems rely on Java, so it is likely that Chrome will no longer work with these systems by late next year.
Note that Chrome should continue to work fine with HomerConnect, Parnassus "self-service" tools, and other ACE systems that do not rely on Java.
ITS will post more information about any future limitations with Chrome as more details are known.
