Still not sure if you should apply for one of two Internship Scholarships? Read on for answers!

Q: Who is eligible to receive an internship scholarship?

A: Generally, any first year, sophomore, or junior student completing a paid or unpaid internship in the summer of 2015 can apply. For the Washington D.C. scholarship, the location of the internship must be in the District of Columbia. Graduating seniors, international students, students who receive full tuition assistance (such as Park Scholars) and student who do not receive financial aid are not eligible for either scholarship. All applicants must have a completed FAFSA on file with Student Financial Services by March 1, 2015.

Q: How do I submit an application?

A: Applications are due Monday, February 23, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. You can either print out your application documents and hand them in at Career Services (101 Muller Center), or email your documents as PDFs to nlynn@ithaca.edu Applications for both scholarships are available here.

Q: Can I apply for both scholarships?

A: If your internship will be located in the District of Columbia, yes, you may apply for both scholarships.

Q: I am studying abroad/in NYC/in LA/at the London Center this semester. Can I still apply, and how do I submit an application?

A: Yes! Students abroad or otherwise studying outside of Ithaca this semester can absolutely apply for one or both scholarships, as long as they meet the eligibility described above. To apply from a distance, please email your application documents (as PDFs) to nlynn@ithaca.edu on or before the deadline of February 23, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

Q: I haven't secured an internship for the summer yet. Can I still apply for scholarships?

A: Yes. If you have applied for internships but have not gotten offers before the deadline, please still submit your applications. Simply list the internship host site(s) you're waiting to hear from on the application. There is no need to submit more than one application form if you have applied to multiple internships.

Q: How are scholarship recipients selected? When will I know if I have been offered a scholarship?

A: A committee of faculty and staff review all applications and select first choice recipients and alternates in early April. All applicants will be notified via email of their status sometime before May 1st.

Q: What happens next if I am offered a scholarship?

A: If you receive a scholarship, you will need to provide proof that you were offered, and accepted, an internship. Pending final approval from Financial Aid, the recipients will see the scholarship money available in their student account in early June.

Q: What are the scholarship amounts?

A: The amount of each award changes from year to year, and we are unable to release that information at this time. Generally, the award may cover some aspects of the financial cost of completing a summer internship; including but not limited to: tuition for credit-bearing internships, transportation costs, or food/lodging.
