Presenter: Deborah J. Monahan, Ph. D., L.M.S.W. is a Professor of Social Work, a faculty research affiliate of the Aging Studies Institute, and the Associate Dean for Research in the College of Sport and Human Dynamics at Syracuse University.
Family Caregiving in Rural Communities will present an overview of the demographic characteristics of family caregivers for seniors in rural communities and assess factors that contribute to their well-being. The services that are available for caregivers and older adults in rural communities will also be examined along with the barriers to service use. Trends for future service needs will be identified that support rural caregivers as well as new roles for professionals in those communities.
