The First-Year Residential Experience (FYRE) is an educational community experience for first-year students with goals of easing student transitions, developing strong, active communities, and stimulating intellectual curiosity.
FYRE accomplishes these goals by offering a highly-individualized focus on each student and by providing opportunities for meaningful interactions between peers, staff, and faculty outside the classroom. Within this model, FYRE Associates help students enjoy and learn from their residential experience by serving as an informal mentor and participating in the development of communities that promote intellectual curiosity and celebrate students’ unique strengths. The core responsibilities within the FYRE Associate role are to (1) develop connections with students through small group interactions, (2) plan six, engaging Focus Events a year and, (3) partner with students and Resident Assistants to develop these Focus Events.
If you are interested in the FYRE Associate role – as either a full-time, salaried, Ithaca College staff or faculty member, please email (1) a letter of interest and (2) current resume or CV to Dr. Jacqueline Robilotta, Assistant Director for Residential Education, at jrobilotta@ithaca.edu by Friday, April 17th. For the full FYRE Associate job description, or any questions, please also email Jacqueline.
If you are a student who would like to nominate an Ithaca College faculty or staff member – please email Jacqueline Robilotta at jrobilotta@ithaca.edu with their name and contact information.
