Join the Ithaca College Society of Professional Journalists this Saturday, April 4, at Cinemapolis for a special double feature community event.
The evening kicks off at 5 p.m. with a screening of Meet Me At Equality: The People’s March on Washington, a documentary by Ithaca College Journalism professor James Rada. Stick around after the film for a panel discussion detailing the experiences of the IC team that covered the 50th Anniversary of Bloody Sunday in Selma, Alabama.
Meet Me At Equality: The People’s March on Washington originally aired on PBS in August 2013. This documentary explores this monumental march for civil rights through the eyes of those who participated 50 years ago.
Following the documentary, there will be a panel discussion with the six student Ithaca College journalists who assisted NBC Nightly News with its coverage of the 50th anniversary of the Bloody Sunday marches in Selma, Alabama. These students will speak on what it was like to attend this commemorative event and cover the march reenactment from the crowd.
This screening and discussion panel will go from to 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. this Saturday, April 4, at Cinemapolis in Downtown Ithaca. It is free and open to the public. For more information, email ithacaspj@gmail.com.
