Difference isn’t the problem, discourse is! CMST assistant professor Christopher House will offer CLTC 10000:01 Introduction to Communication and Culture as an online course during the 2015 May Session (May 12- May 22).
As such, this course explores and interrogates the ways that communication (e.g., language, media, and discourse) establishes and enacts identity and power dynamics. In thinking about communication as global citizens, our online discussions of, for example, movies like Crash (Paul Haggis, 2004) and Snowpiercer (Joon-ho bong, 2013) will help us to understand how social identities are constructed, institutionalized, changed, contested and/or appropriated by various social groups.
This course fulfills Liberal Arts general education and ICC Diversity requirements. To enroll, search course number: CLTC 10000 01 (CRN 10009) for Summer 2015 term on Homerconnect.
