With the college’s continued pursuit of making Ithaca College more affordable for our students and their parents, and to increase operational efficiencies across campus, the Division of Finance & Administration is pleased to announce the recent restructuring of a number of operating units. Accordingly, I am pleased to share the following changes.
The Center for Print Production and the Office of Mail Services have combined into a new Office of General Services. Ms. Karen Serbonich has assumed the position of Director of General Services and will lead this new department. Karen is a proven leader, and her skill sets and knowledge will bring greater coordination to one umbrella organization that services all the general service needs of the campus. Peter Schlough is now the manager of mail service operations, and Glen Harris will become the digital prepress specialist on April 16.
The restructuring also afforded us the opportunity to merge printing functions from the Office of Marketing Communications with the Office of General Services. To that end, Peter Kilcoyne will move from his position in marketing communications to assume the position of manager of print production operations later this semester. Peter will retain many of the functions he has in his current role, and will transition to provide direct leadership for all printing services on campus in his new position.
The staff in general services looks forward to continuing to provide service to the Ithaca College community. It’s our expectation, that services will be enhanced over time as the result of this reorganization and on-going review of operations. Thank you for your support and patience as the staff in Mail Services and the Center for Print Production settle into their new roles and working relationships.
During the summer of 2014, the departure of the director of facilities maintenance enabled newly-hired Associate Vice President, Dr. Timothy Carey, to propose and implement a realignment of his managerial team. Specifically, the vacant manager’s position was eliminated and the duties and responsibilities of the maintenance department were merged with the grounds & transportation department. Ernie McClatchie was appointed to oversee both of these major facilities departments in October. The result of this change is a streamlined provision of services from the maintenance and grounds and transportation units. Significant credit for the successful transition into the new structure resides not only with Mr. McClatchie, whose work ethic and dedication to IC are well-known around the campus, but also to the skilled and committed supervisors and staff members within maintenance and grounds and transportation.
Our Office of Procurement is continuing its transformational efforts at this time. Under the leadership of Mr. Dean Casterline, all functions related to purchasing and the management of inventory have been brought under his purview. Ms. Irene Scott has transitioned from information technology services, and is now responsible for all information technology related purchases under the auspices of procurement. The accounts payable and warehouse operations are now located within the Office of Procurement. These reorganizations allow us to have a single director overseeing our entire “procure to pay” (P2P) process to handle the acquisition and payment for of our products and services.
As we continue to refine the work that we have to do on campus, the Division of Finance and Administration is continually seeking ways to streamline operations, bring greater efficiencies and eventually improve the experiences of our students, faculty and staff.
