Students in the Department of English will hold their panel session at this year's Whalen Symposium on Thursday, April 9, from 2:35-3:50pm. The panel will convene in the Taughannock Falls Room, on the third floor of the Campus Center.
Four English majors will present papers at this year's panel. Katharine Ahrens' talk is entitled "The Clash of the Ideal and Real in Thomas Hardy's *Tess of the D'Urbervilles*." Grace Currie's presentation is entitled "'Bad Girls, Bad Girls, Whatcha Gonna Do?': A Historical Study of Transgression in Girls' School Stories." Madeline Gerbig will offer a talk entitled "'With a Thorn in Her Heart': The Futility of Artistic Sacrifice in an Age of Practicality." And Casey Wayman will present on "Morality in *Othello*."
All are welcome to attend. Please join us at the session in order to find out what some of our very best students are working on.
