Africa Week is Finally Here!

 Join the IC African Students Association for our annual Africa Week!


Here is a list of events that will be taking place during the course of the week!

Monday, the 13th at 7PM, we will have our inaugural speaker, Solome Lemma, who will open up the week with a discussion about the ways in which Africans and non-Africans in the Diaspora can engage in forms of partnership and entrepreneurship, while maintaining the dignity of those whom we assist. 

SLI CREDIT WILL BE AVAILABLE!

On Tuesday, the 14th at 7PM, we will be screening the film, "Half of A Yellow Sun," which is an adaptation of Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's acclaimed book.

Wednesday, the 15th at 7:30PM, we will be having a panel discussion titled: "Frictions in the Diaspora." This panel discussion will revolve around the points of solidarity and friction amongst people of the African Diaspora.

On Thursday, the 16th 7PM, we will have a discussion entitled, "Danger of a Single Story." We will be discussing the ways in which the media portrays the continent and how those in the diaspora and on the continent can problematize and challenge these narratives.

Friday, the 17th at 7PM, we will be having our Mr & Ms. ASA Pageant and Fashion Show. Come and see the beautiful designs and outfits that our continent has to offer, and see who will be crowned Mr. and Ms. ASA 2015!

On Saturday, the 18th at 7PM, we will be closing out the week with our banquet titled: "Sankofa"! Our keynote speaker will be Dr. Aloja Airewele. Come out to dance, laugh and see amazing performances! We will be tabling for tickets, and so make sure you grab yours!
