Congratulations to Subversive Malting and Brewing, OnSet and FearWalk, for taking home top prizes at the 2nd Annual Business Plan Competition.

Zane Coffey ’15, Max Ocean ’15, and Daniel Minogue ’15, of Subversive Malting & Brewing, walked away with the top prize of $20,000.  Subversive Malting and Brewing is a pre-Prohibition style malthouse and brewery located in the Hudson Valley that aims to forge local economy connections among brewers, beer-lovers and farmers.

“Winning the competition is fundamental to us being able to move forward with our business. We already feel the value of winning the competition is going to be much greater than the prize money; it has already generated a ton of interest in our business (both from consumers and potential investors) and we are confident it will enable us to obtain additional funding with this award under our belts.” said Max Ocean ’15.

OnSet, developed by Kat Fischer ’17 and Eliza Diament ’15, took second place and $10,000.  OnSet is a mobile application that creates an integrated movie theater experience for moviegoers through social media engagement content and activities. The third place check of $5,000 went to Leonard Davis ’17, who developed FearWalk, an interactive haunting experience for thrill-seeking campers.

Those in attendance had an opportunity to vote for their favorite for the Audience Choice Award winner.  That went to OnSet with an additional $500 in prize money.  Also, three Honorary Mentions were also given out to Home Comfort Storage, InsertHeals and Synergy Marketing Solution.
