As of Monday, June 1, the US Postal service has implemented a number of changes which will affect the campus community.
1) The biggest changes are with extra services, most notably with Certified and Return Receipt. If your department currently uses these services and has the forms to fill out and attach to your outgoing mail, these forms are now discontinued. Please do not fill them out as they will have to be voided. If you need to send out Certified and Return Receipt mail, please stop by the Phillips Hall Post Office to obtain the new forms. You can give us your old ones or recycle them. Note that we were issued a limited quantity and are requesting more. We will be able to resupply departments who keep their own on hand, but this will take time as the USPS tries to fulfill demand.
2) Tracking is now included for free on First Class parcels, Library, and Media mail.
3) First Class/Forever stamps have not changed this time around and remain $0.49. What did change are Postcard stamps (now $0.35), and International Forever stamps (now $1.20). The additional-ounce stamps have gone up to $0.22, $0.71, and $0.93 respectively. With the exception of the International stamps, Phillips Hall Post Office will not have these new stamps available for sale before June 9.
