Jeane Copenhaver-Johnson, Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Education has agreed to serve as Interim Associate Dean for Faculty and New Initiatives, School of Humanities and Sciences for the 2015-2016 academic year Description of responsibilities: Provide leadership and overall direction in the support of faculty within the School of Humanities and Sciences. Support and manage faculty professional development opportunities, including travel; research opportunities for faculty as they pertain to school-based initiatives and priorities; external grants where practical. Work collaboratively with the Dean in the review and evaluation of faculty, including annual reviews based on faculty workload agreements. Work collaboratively with the Dean in the review of departmental guidelines. Coordinate marketing and communication within the school. Coordinate admissions and yield events. Manage the endowed scholarship process. Serve as Dean’s office liaison for CP Snow and Distinguished Speaker committees. Provide leadership as liaison to the faculty for facilities projects that pertain to teaching and research. Review student grade appeal petitions. Represent the Dean when called upon in various committee meetings. Engage in new initiatives of the School of Humanities and Sciences as identified by the Dean. Brendan Murday, Associate Professor of Philosophy has agreed to accept the position of Assessment coordinator, School of Humanities and Sciences Responsibilities will include: working with Dean’s office staff to coordinate student learning outcomes assessment of our major and minor academic programs, serving on the college Academic Assessment Committee, and facilitating data reporting in the Assessment Management System of TaskStream.
