Join us in Ford Hall for the first concert of the new academic year!
On Thursday, 27 August at 7:00 P.M., Professors Jean C. Radice and Mark A. Radice will be joined by sophomore music major Christopher Davenport in a program featuring compositions by César Franck (1822–90), Olivier Messiaen (1908–92), and Jean Langlais (1907–91).
The program, which will last approximately one hour, is free and open to the public. Featured works include Franck's Fantasy in C, Chorale in B minor, excerpts from Messiaen's <La nativité du Seigneur,> <L'Ascension,> from Langlais' <Trois poèmes évangeliques> and <Trois paraphrases Grégoriennes.> All of these compositions were written with the stunning sound of Aristide Cavaillé-Coll's organs within vast acoustical spaces of French, Roman Catholic churches in mind. The recently refurbished Ford Hall and its 76-rank Schlicker Organ capture the spirit of this sometimes solemn, often mystical, and ultimately ebullient music.
Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Mark A. Radice at mradice@ithaca.edu or (607) 274-1367. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible.
