Based on campus community feedback regarding the size and weight of the standard Dell laptop offered by ITS, we are moving to the Dell Latitude E7250 as the standard model. The E7250 is smaller and almost 2 pounds lighter, and should meet the needs of the majority of faculty and staff. Effective immediately, the Dell Latitude model E7250 will become the standard Windows laptop offered through the Technology Renewal Program, and for new purchases through the ITS Catalog in iProcurement.

Because it is significantly thinner and lighter than its predecessor, the E7250 does not have an internal optical drive for CDs or DVD’s. The E7250 can utilize the same docking stations currently being used with the Dell Latitude E6400 Series laptops (which the E7250 replaces).
