With the departure of former Dean of H&S Leslie Lewis for the position of Provost at Goucher College, Ithaca College is embarking on a search for a new dean of the School of Humanities and Sciences.  H&S faculty and staff were asked to self-nominate to serve on the search committee; the Student Government was asked to give the names of three students one of whom would be asked to serve on the committee, as well.  The Provost, in consultation with the President, worked to assemble a search committee consisting of diverse individuals representing the different disciplinary areas of the School of Humanities and Sciences.

Dr. Diane Gayeski, Dean of the Park School of Communications, graciously agreed to chair the committee.  AGB Search was selected to provide search and consulting services for this search and Ms. Julie Tea has been appointed as the AGB consultant working Ithaca College on this search.

I am grateful to the following individuals from the Ithaca College community for their service on the search committee for our new dean of H&S:

John Barr, Associate Professor of Computer Science
Mara Baldwin, Director of the Handwerker Gallery
Julia Cozzarelli, Associate Professor and Chair of Modern Languages and Literatures
Belisa Gonzalez, Associate Professor of Sociology and Director of CSCRE
Michele Hau, Student majoring in Culture & Communication
Christopher House, Assistant Professor of Communication Studies
Roger “Doc” Richardson, Associate Provost for Diversity, Inclusion and Engagement
Michael “Bodhi” Rogers, Professor of Physics and Astronomy
Michael Smith, Associate Professor of History and Environmental Studies
Steve TenEyck, Associate Professor and Associate Chair of Theatre Arts
Gerard Turbide, Interim Vice President for Enrollment Management

In addition, I am grateful to Gwenevere Benners, Administrative Assistant to the Deans of the Park School of Communications, who is providing staff support for this search.

This search, like all others, will be conducted in complete confidence in order to protect the integrity of the process.  Dean Gayeski, as chair of the search committee, will make periodic announcements through Intercom to update the campus community on the progress of the search.
