The Ithaca College Center for Health Promotion has sponsored the administration of the IC Student Health Survey biannually since 2003. We use the National College Health Assessment (NCHA) web-based survey instrument hosted by the American College Health Association. The NCHA is a nationally recognized tool for assessing and tracking the health behaviors and attitudes of college students.
The 2015 survey was conducted here at IC between February 23rd and March 9th, 2015. Fifty percent of the undergraduate student population was randomly selected to receive the survey invitation by email. The survey is confidential and voluntary.
A total of 718 IC students completed the survey this year, resulting in a response rate of 23.5%. Survey question sections included preventive health practices, the impact of health behaviors on academic performance, alcohol and other drug use, sexual health, mental health, safety, nutrition, and sleep.
The data we collect from this survey is used to support and enhance health programs and services for students. A summary of results from the 2013 and 2015 surveys can be found on the Center for Health Promotion website.
