Eight individuals and two teams will be enshrined into the Ithaca College Athletics Hall of Fame during the 46th annual induction ceremony Friday night inside the Athletics and Events Center. Kevin Connors '97 returns to South Hill to emcee the event.
The 1982 national championship-winning field hockey team and the 1965 football team, the only undefeated squad in program history, will be inducted during a ceremony inside the Athletics and Events Center.
Additionally, Kerri Brown ('03, women's basketball), Stephanie Cleary ('05, women's basketball), Megan Hughes ('04, women's swimming and diving), Dave Pitzer ('77, football and men's basketball), Michelle Schlegel ('04, women's lacrosse), and Andrea Golden (women's lacrosse and athletic administration) will be enshrined alongside Mike Welch, the current Ithaca football coach, and Rick Suddaby, the current head gymnastics coach.
On Saturday, the 20th-ranked football team (2-0) hosts Empire 8 rival Alfred University (3-0) at 1 p.m. in the conference opener at Butterfield Stadium. The first 200 students receive a rally towel.
Ithaca is also hosting a soccer doubleheader, with the women (4-3, 1-0 E8) playing Stevens Institute of Technology at noon, and the men (1-4-1, 1-0 E8) hosting St. John Fisher College at 3 p.m.
The women's soccer team earned a 6-0 win over Alfred Wednesday night to give head coach Mindy Quigg her 300th career win. She became just the 15th active coach to reach 300 career wins, with all of them coming at Ithaca.
On Sunday, the sculling team kicks off its season hosting its annual Invitational on the Cayuga Inlet.
