On Friday , October 2 at 4pm in the Park Auditorium there will be a screening of the new film documenting Professor Kathleen Mulligan’s “Voices of Partition” project and the creation of the original theatre piece Dagh Dagh Ujala (This Stained Dawn).
The Pakistani filmmaker Ali RoOoh used over 90 hours of footage documenting interviews with Partition survivors, cast meetings, writing sessions, rehearsals and the opening night performance of Dagh Dagh Ujala in Islamabad, Pakistan in April 2015.
The film is 60 minutes in duration. Professor Mulligan will answer questions about the project following the screening.
The screening is supported by the Dr. John Keshishoglou Center for Global Communications Innovation
The goals of the Voices of Partition project are to preserve stories of the survivors of the partition of India and Pakistan in 1947 and educate audiences in the United States about that chapter in world history. Professor Mulligan’s project is funded through a grant from the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad, the Fulbright Commission, and Ithaca College.
Come see this interesting documentary, and then come see the project’s final product when Dagh Dagh Ujala (This Stained Dawn) is performed by members of Islamabad’s Theatre Wallay on Friday October 30 at 8pm and Saturday, October 31 at 2pm and 7pm in the Clark Theatre, Ithaca College. Performances are free. Reservations are encouraged and should be requested by emailing thisstaineddawnusatour@gmail.com. Please include name, performance choice, and number of tickets requested.
Donations will be requested at the performances for “141 Schools”, an organization committed to building one school in Pakistan for each child killed in the Peshawar massacre of December 2014
