The Roy H. Park School of Communications will participate in National News Engagement Day on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015. National News Engagement Day is an initiative of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication.

The entire campus community is invited to these events:

Matt Mulcahy ‘87, Television News Anchor/Managing Editor/Reporter at WSTM 
Topic: What you need to break into the broadcast news business

“When Journalists are the Story” -- Skype Session with Ryan Parkhurst 
Parkhurst is a professor at James Madison University and served as Alison Parker's advisor. Parker, a reporter at WDBJ, and her coworker were killed in August on live television.

Independent Media Displays and Drop-in Chats with Summer 2015 Indy Media Interns

What does “independent media" mean? Where can we get news if not from commercial sources? Stop by and see some options on display.  Also, PCIM indy media interns will be available to talk about their summer 2015 experiences as researchers, writers, editors, producers, radio hosts and more.
