As part of institutional analysis about how best to structure administrative offices and services, Ithaca College’s extended learning programs, including winter and summer sessions and summer pre-college programming, as well as the Ithaca College-Cornell University exchange, will be moved under the umbrella of the renamed Office of International Programs and Extended Studies, led by Assistant Provost Tanya Saunders. This expanded unit will enhance collaboration among the full range of academic opportunities outside the traditional fall/spring semester calendar, whether offered locally or in geographically distant locations. Staff responsible for these programs will be moving from Peggy Ryan Williams Center to Job Hall within the next few weeks.  The Office of International Programs and Extended Studies will collaborate with Digital Instruction and Information Services (formerly ITS) on ongoing and new technology-based learning experiences.

Rob Gearhart, Assistant Provost for Online Learning and Extended Studies, has been appointed Interim Associate Dean of the Park School of Communications. In his new role, Rob will be replacing Virginia Mansfield-Richardson, whose duties focused on curriculum development and scheduling, school policies, internal and external grants, and assessment. Park School Dean Diane Gayeski states, “We are fortunate to be able to leverage Rob’s skills as an IC administrator as well as his own experience of the Park School as an alum and former instructor.  He’s been a valued colleague for over 25 years and his contributions will be very much appreciated in this period of tremendous advancement for our school. “

Prior to serving as Assistant Provost for Online Learning and Extended Studies, Rob held the positions of Associate Dean and then Acting Dean of Graduate and Professional Studies.  Rob earned both his B.S. in Communications Management and his M.S. in Communications here at Ithaca College.

Later this year the Park School will conduct a national search for a permanent Associate Dean.
